About the Author - In 2001, Ross Butchart retired following a thirty-four year career as a teacher and administrator in the Vancouver, British Columbia (Canada) elementary and middle school systems. That fall he changed direction and became an instructor in the Faculty of Education at the University of British Columbia where he taught courses in Communication, Principles of Teaching, and monitored teachers-in-training during their two-year professional program. When budget restrictions closed down his cohort in 2007, Ross Butchart entered full retirement concluding a forty year career in education. In 2009, he was a contributing author to the book, Heroes of Giftedness (Gifted Education Press, Publisher).
